Would you use these listed social media sites in your library? No, nada, not at all in an elementary and questionable at the secondary. Why? Lots of trash talking, bad mouthing, sensationalism journalism--so maybe for a journalism class, but really not something I'd recommend any student k-12 using for school related activities.

So, finally got a Twitter account--fascinating--didn't think I'd ever be interested. I'm following Ed Leadership and the Huffington Post. I did some other searches for items, but didn't add any others. Easy as pie and much more influential than when this Thing was created. Amazing how in a year or two that the technology like this can just take off.

E-mail and text messaging were nothing new--even to use them at work/school. We use it to exchange thoughts, ideas and messages all the time. The web conferencing was of more interest to me. Spellit with Flickr--I've been working around on this one for a few days--it is SO easy! I'm trying to find some ways for kids to use it in my media tech class...I think the uniqueness of it is cool--but educational uses beyond spelling out their names...not sure. Thinking on ways to use this with some science vocabulary terms.

That was great fun creating this blog! Blogger was easy to use once I took the time to look around (after reading the directions), and found the items named in the directions! The hardest part was figuring out where to add the html code for the avatar. It took me a while and after a few trial runs, I was able to add my avatar! I'm on!
